Musi Banyuasin, KOTABARI.COM – The case of stoning that befell Bus Putra Remaja on East Lintas Road (Jalintim) KM 86 in Babat Village, Babat Supat District, Muba Regency, South Sumatra, has reached a resolution after five perpetrators were apprehended by the Muba Regional Police and Babar Supat Police.

Following an investigation, it was revealed that the five perpetrators were minors. Muba Police Chief, AKBP Imam Safii SIk, emphasized that the incident did not involve firearms, as previously reported on social media. Instead, the case involved acts of juvenile delinquency, specifically stone-throwing at the bus.

“From the investigation results, it turns out that the incident that occurred was stone-throwing carried out by children, not gunfire as previously narrated,” said Imam.

The incident took place as two units of Bus PO Putra Remaja were traveling from Yogyakarta to Jambi on the East Lintas Road in Babat Village. The five apprehended perpetrators admitted to their actions, citing mere mischief as their motive.

Although the act constitutes a criminal offense, considering the perpetrators are minors, PO Putra Remaja opted to settle the matter amicably after mediation between both parties.

Imam stressed the importance of increasing police activities and social interactions with the community, as well as patrols in areas deemed vulnerable along the East Lintas Road. He also urged the community to pay closer attention to and supervise their children, to prevent them from engaging in criminal activities that may harm others.

This case serves as a reminder for all parties to pay more attention to the role of guidance and supervision of children to prevent similar incidents from recurring in the future.
