PALI, KOTABARI.COM – Police have successfully apprehended a resident of Dusun IV Desa Tempirai, Penukal Utara District, PALI Regency, on strong suspicion of receiving stolen property. A man named Asron (44) has come under scrutiny in this case for allegedly accepting stolen goods in the form of a mobile phone from a theft suspect with the initials MS, who is currently on the Most Wanted list (DPO).

This arrest is based on a report filed by the victim under case number LP / B-85 / VI / 2023 / SPKT / POLRES PALI / POLDA SUMSEL, dated June 5, 2023. PALI Regional Police Chief, AKBP Khairu Nasrudin, S.I.K, M.H, through the Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of PALI Regional Police, IPTU Yudhistira S.Trk., S.I.K, along with IPDA M.Yusuf Aprian, S.Tr.K, confirmed Asron’s apprehension.

The Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of PALI Regional Police explained, “Asron is strongly suspected of being involved in receiving stolen property, specifically an Oppo A5S 2020 mobile phone in a sparkling white color, believed to be sourced from a theft suspect.” He also disclosed that Asron had provided a sum of money, amounting to Rp. 400,000,- to suspect MS as compensation for the stolen item.

The timeline of the theft incident unfolded on June 5, 2023, around 01:00 AM, at the victim’s residence located in Dusun III Desa Tempirai Utara, Penukal District. During that time, the victim lost a unit of an Oppo A5S 2020 mobile phone and cash amounting to Rp. 5,000,000,- which was suspected to have been stolen by suspect MS through a house break-in.

On June 15, 2023, at approximately 07:00 AM, suspect MS allegedly pawned the stolen mobile phone to Asron in exchange for Rp. 400,000,- (Four Hundred Thousand Rupiahs). Upon receiving the report from the victim regarding the alleged possession of stolen property, the Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of PALI Regional Police instructed an investigative team to conduct a thorough inquiry.

“Asron has confessed to his involvement in the crime related to receiving stolen property. Following the arrest, the suspect, along with the evidence consisting of 1 unit of an Oppo A5S mobile phone in a sparkling white color and 1 box of the same brand in white, was secured at PALI Regional Police Headquarters for further investigation,” added the Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of PALI Regional Police.

Suspect Asron is charged under Article 480 of the Indonesian Criminal Code (KUHP), which carries a maximum prison sentence of four years. The police continue to conduct further investigations to uncover all individuals involved in this case.
