Palembang, KOTABARI.COM – In an effort to prevent severe congestion during the Eid al-Fitr exodus, a portion of the Kayuagung-Palembang-Betung Toll Road (Kapalbetung) will be opened in a functional capacity. Sabdo Hari Mukti, the Operational Manager of PT Waskita Sriwijaya Tol, revealed that the functional route to be opened is the Musi Landas-Pangkalan Balai Segment, spanning 22 kilometers.

“This toll section is planned to be opened functionally for 12 days from April 5 to April 16, coinciding with the peak of the Eid al-Fitr exodus and return,” said Sabdo during an interview in the 2024 Homecoming Program.

Only category 1 vehicles, such as sedans, jeeps, and single-axis vehicles, are permitted to traverse this functional toll section. These vehicles can pass through free of charge within operational hours between 07:00 and 17:00.

To anticipate congestion, PT Waskita Karya, as the toll road operator, has increased the number of toll booths from four to six, with three entrances and three exits at the Kramasan Toll Gate. Additionally, six top-up balance units and eight mobile reader units are available to reduce queues due to toll transactions.

Moreover, PT Waskita Karya has prepared 14 operational vehicles, 42 CCTV cameras, and 3 VMS (Variable Message Signs) that operate 24 hours to ensure smooth traffic flow. In case of vehicle breakdowns on the toll road, four tow trucks are ready to assist at no charge.

The peak of the exodus is expected to occur on April 7, with an estimated 19,000 vehicles passing through the Kapalbetung Toll Road. Should toll users require assistance, they can contact the 24-hour call center at 08118886600 or 07115541478.

Sabdo also emphasizes the importance of compliance with traffic signs, speed limits, and ensuring vehicles are in good condition with sufficient electronic money balances to avoid congestion at toll gates.

With these measures in place, it is hoped that this year’s Eid al-Fitr exodus will proceed smoothly and safely for travelers crossing the Kapalbetung Toll Road.

This news is presented for the benefit of all road users.
