Palembang, KOTABARI.COM – A tragedy has shaken the Kemas Rindo Subdistrict, Kertapati District, Palembang, as Deni Novriansyah (38), a resident of Mataram Street, decided to end his life by hanging himself inside his own home. This tragic event occurred on Sunday (3/31/2024) around 1:30 p.m.
According to information gathered from witnesses at the Scene of the Incident (SOI), Uyun Novriyanti (34), a neighbor of the victim, along with his wife, found Deni’s house locked from the outside. They were forced to break open the door as there was no response from inside.
Upon opening the door, they were greeted with horror. Deni was found lifeless with his neck tied using a clothesline. Panic ensued as they reported the incident to the local neighborhood chief (RT), who then contacted the police.
Kertapati Police Chief, AKP Angga Kurniawan, stated that his team promptly responded to the report by visiting the SOI to conduct investigations, gather witness testimonies, and evacuate Deni’s body.
“From the scene investigation, the body was found with the neck tied using a clothesline,” said Angga.
Meanwhile, according to information obtained from the victim’s family, Deni’s suicide is suspected to be a result of depression triggered by his wife and child not returning home for three days. This is further supported by the discovery of a will left behind by Deni.
“I’m tired of waiting for you to come back, carrying the burden of remembering us, waking up in pain again. I’m sorry I had to leave like this, my dear, I couldn’t bear it anymore,” reads a part of the will found.
Although the police recommended conducting an autopsy, the victim’s family refused to grant permission for both external and internal examinations. Instead, they issued a statement allowing Deni’s body to be taken home for burial.
As of the time of reporting, the victim’s family continues to refrain from providing comments to the media regarding the tragedy that has befallen them.
