Prabumulih City, KOTABARI.COM – A road at the intersection of Gunung Ibul Subdistrict, Prabumulih City, has been closed using red soil by residents acting on behalf of Gunung Ibul residents. This action was taken as a form of protest by the residents against the Prabumulih City Government regarding flooding issues in the area.
As a result of this incident, motorists passing through the area faced difficulties as the soil dumped on the road made it impassable.
Information gathered successfully revealed that the demonstration carried out by the residents of Gunung Ibul Subdistrict was aimed at urging the government to address the complaints of the community regarding frequent flooding in the area.
Dozens of demonstrators demanded that the government take action regarding the challenges faced by residents who are frequently affected by flooding. The Prabumulih City Government was urged to build and improve drainage systems in the area.
During their protest, the demonstrators used dump trucks to unload red soil on both sides of the road and then gave speeches urging the resolution of the issues in the area.
As a result of this incident, traffic flow in the area was disrupted, and many motorists expressed regret over the protest action that led to the road closure.
“We demand that the government take action to address the flooding issues in the Gunung Ibul area,” shouted Ariantono, the leader of the protest, during his speech.
The Subdistrict Head of Prabumulih Timur, Joni Panhar, accompanied by the Head of Gunung Ibul Subdistrict, Ani Farida, confirmed the protest action that led to the road closure.
“Yes, indeed, there is a road closure demanding action to address the frequent flooding in that area,” he said briefly.
