Semarang, KOTABARI.COM – The alleged bribery case related to the construction and improvement of railway lines involving officials from the Ministry of Transportation (MoT) has resurfaced in a trial at the Semarang Corruption Court. The implicated MoT official in this scandal is the Minister of Transportation, Budi Karya Sumadi, who is alleged to have recommended certain contractors for the projects.

According to a witness in the trial, MoT official Harno Trimadi, several names have been revealed as being involved in these contractor arrangements. One of them is reportedly the brother-in-law of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), identified as Wahyu. Additionally, prominent businessman Billy Haryanto, also known as Billy Beras, has been mentioned as a recipient of contractor recommendations.

The trial has unveiled that the directives regarding these recommended contractors were given directly by Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi. Based on Harno’s testimony, these projects include the improvement of railway lines in various regions, such as the Lampegan-Cianjur railway line and the elevated double-track railway between Solo Balapan and Kadipiro. Furthermore, an allocation of railway infrastructure work has been purportedly set aside for members of the Indonesian Parliament (DPR) from Commission V, which collaborates with the Ministry of Transportation.

Dion Renato Sugiarto, the Director of PT Istana Putra Agung, stands as the defendant in this case, accused of providing bribes to officials from the Directorate General of Railways at the Ministry of Transportation, totaling approximately Rp27.9 billion. These alleged bribes were supposedly aimed at securing construction and improvement projects for railway lines in three provinces spanning Central Java, West Java, and South Sulawesi.

The trial continues to unfold as more details emerge regarding the involvement of MoT officials and contractors in this bribery scandal. The public eagerly awaits further developments in the ongoing legal process.
