Penukal Abab Lematang Ilir, KOTABARI.COM – Despite still being submerged, the condition of Desa Sedupi road in Tanah Abang Subdistrict, PALI Regency, South Sumatra, has improved. Since yesterday, the road has been reopened for vehicles as the floodwaters that previously inundated it are gradually receding.

The water level, which reached 90 centimeters two days ago, has now decreased to approximately 50 centimeters. Previously, the flood had rendered the access road from Desa Sedupi to Desa Modong, Tanah Abang Subdistrict, impassable for several days.

Tanah Abang Police Chief, AKP Darmawansyah, mentioned that despite the receding flood, drivers are still advised to be cautious. Some parts of the road are at risk of damage and subsidence due to the inundation.

“At present, the Desa Sedupi road is accessible to drivers, whether heading to Desa Modong, Tanah Abang Subdistrict, or to Lembak Muara Enim, and vice versa. However, we urge drivers to remain cautious as some sections of the road are starting to deteriorate due to the flood,” said AKP Darmawansyah on Saturday (20/1/2024).

Over the past week, approximately 200 meters of the Desa Sedupi road has been submerged. This road also serves as an alternative route to Lembak Subdistrict, Muara Enim Regency.

The flood not only submerged the road but also damaged the terraces of houses located along the road. Furthermore, hundreds of houses, two schools, plantations, and agricultural land in Desa Sedupi have been affected by the flood.

AKP Darmawansyah reminds drivers to remain vigilant, considering the deteriorating condition of the road due to the flood. The police will continue to monitor and provide the latest information to the community regarding the developments in the area.
