Bandung, KOTABARI.COM – The body of Dul Kosim, a suspected drug offender, was found dead at the bottom of a ravine in Bandung, West Java. Nine members of Metro Jaya Police are allegedly involved in the assault that led to Dul Kosim’s death.
Initially, the body of Dul Kosim was discovered by a truck driver who had stopped by the roadside in Kampung Cirangrang, Sumur Bandung Village, Cipat District, West Bandung Regency. The driver reported the finding to the local community, and the news eventually reached the police.
In this case, nine police officers are suspected to be involved. Seven of them have been declared suspects and detained, while one individual has been returned to the Professional and Security Affairs Division of Metro Jaya Police for ethical examination, and one police officer is still at large.
According to the Director of General Crime Detective (Dirkrimum) at Metro Jaya Police, Commissioner Hengki Haryadi, the violence against Dul Kosim occurred while the police officers were investigating his involvement in a drug case. “The unit conducting the investigation on the drug network resorted to violence, resulting in the death of the victim,” stated Hengki to journalists.
Dul Kosim’s wife, Maimunah, revealed that she had been searching for her husband for three days before his lifeless body was found. She was unaware of the reason and timing of her husband’s arrest by the police. Dul Kosim was known to be a reserved individual who seldom interacted with neighbors in Tugu Utara, Koja, North Jakarta.
The National Police Commission (Kompolnas) expressed its deep regret over the cruelty of the police officers towards Dul Kosim. Kompolnas member, Yusuf Warsyim, stated that resorting to violence contradicts professionalism and should be avoided in law enforcement. Kompolnas emphasized that police officers found guilty must face the most severe sanctions.
The perpetrators in this case are charged under Article 5, Article 10, Article 11, and Article 12 of Perpol Number 7 of 2022 concerning Professional Code of Ethics and the Police Ethics Commission. Additionally, they are charged under Government Regulation of the Republic of Indonesia Number 1 of 2023 concerning the imposition of dishonorable discharge on violators. In the criminal case, they are prosecuted under Article 355 of the Criminal Code on premeditated severe assault, combined with Article 170 and Article 351 paragraph 3 on Assault causing someone’s death.
The police are continuing their investigation to ensure justice for the victim and to apprehend the remaining fugitive police officer.
